Soot Loose is a non flammable, non hazardous, non corrosive, organic solvent which travels up the chimney or flu and dissolves the creosote and tar that has built up over time. Product is designed to soften the resins and tars causing them to collapse and drip back down into the fireplace to be consumed by ongoing fires. It does not cause residue to come out and land on the roof.
Soot Loose will not corrode stainless steel flues. With regular use Soot Loose will prevent the build up of tar and creosote while increasing efficiency of your wood heater, reducing smoke emissions and preventing chimney or flue fires.
Directions:
- Make a good fire and allow to die down to hot coals.
- Adjust so airflow is travelling slowly up the chimney or flue.
- Place sealed sachet of Soot Loose on to hot coals.
- After 15-20 mins the process is complete.
- Re-ignite fire to allow any loose soot to be flushed out of chimney or flue.
- Soot Loose should be used once a week during peak use of your wood heater.
- If the chimney/flue is heavily sooted, use 2 Soot Loose sachets at once.
- CAUTION If using Soot Loose in an open fire place make sure a child guard is placed in front of the fire to protect persons, carpet and furniture from soot that may fall from chimney or flue.
